It would be an understatement to say it’s a bit of a tough time for everyone…it’s January, we’re back in lockdown and it’s not stopped raining for what feels like weeks!
There’s a part of me that wants to curl up under the duvet and stay there until things are looking a little more cheerful…the reality is that is never going to happen, one because I have a couple of almost 5-year-olds who don’t believe in sleeping past 6 am and two because I know that it would actually make things even worse.
So instead, I choose to be positive during the first quarter of 2021 and have set myself some objectives to keep me motivated both in business and personally…
- To secure two new clients
- To finish my first eBook
- To write one blog post a week
- To get outside at least once every day
- To read at least two books a month
Of course, the objectives need to have strategies behind them so I know how I will achieve them. For example, I have scheduled time each week to write a blog post and have already created a list of possible titles so it’s just a matter of creating the content.
It wouldn’t work to decide on an objective without any thought or reason behind it. I know that the objectives I have set myself are realistic and therefore I am motivated to achieve them, set them too high and it’s easy to become distracted and give in. I could say that I will walk for at least an hour a day but I know, with my commitments, that it won’t always be achievable to do that.
These objectives have allowed me to refocus and avoid the feeling that it’s all dome and gloom, it’s so important to experience the feeling of achievement, however small the achievement is.
Now, if only my little ones could set themselves an objective of a lie-in!
